Voting Opportunities:

  • Advance voting opportunities were held on October 11, 16, and 18, 2025.
  • Election Day included 15 public voting stations and one institutional voting station at West Country Hearth.
  • Special ballots were utilized by six electors.

Voter Eligibility:

  • Each elector’s eligibility was confirmed using the Permanent Electors Register (PER).
  • Voters not listed but able to provide proof of eligibility were permitted to vote, and their information was subsequently added to the PER as required by Elections Alberta.

Ballot Issuance and Declined Ballots:

  • Eligible electors were offered all ballots applicable to their division.
  • Electors could decline any ballot offered, and only issued ballots were included in the ballot account in accordance with legislative requirements.

Spoiled Ballots:

  • A ballot could be marked spoiled for several reasons, including:
    • The elector returning it unused after choosing not to vote in that contest;
    • Damage or marking errors during issuance; or
    • The elector requests a replacement after making an error while marking their ballot.

Ballot Counting and Rejected Ballots:

Ballot Counting

  • Following the close of polls, ballots were counted at each station and returned to Election Central (Sturgeon County Centre) for verification.

Rejected Ballots

  • Ballots were rejected from the count if they:
  • Lacked the Deputy Returning Officer’s initials;
  • Contained ambiguous or unclear markings;
  • Indicated votes for more than one candidate (overvote);
  • Were left blank; or
  • They were intentionally spoiled and cast regardless.

Note: Per legislative requirements, blank ballots must be recorded separately. Blank ballots are included in the total number of rejected ballots.
