The Project
Bridge repairs are now done and the bridge is open to traffic.
During a routine inspection by Alberta Transportation, a broken truss was discovered on the Sturgeon County bridge. While Alberta Transportation inspects the bridge, maintenance and capital replacement are the County’s responsibilities. The Victoria Trail bridge opened in 1931 and is scheduled for replacement in 2028.

During the July 18, 2023, Council Meeting, Council approved up to $250,000 to fund emergency repairs to the bridge. Transportation Services is still in the process of confirming what work will be needed in order for us to re-open the bridge while ensuring public safety. We will share more information with the community once the details regarding the work needed and the timeline for construction are confirmed. Updates will be posted on this page and shared on the Sturgeon County Facebook page.
