North Shelter

The North Shelter is one of the most popular spots in Cardiff Park, often used by visitors for picnics and events. However, an assessment done by Williams Engineering in August 2024 found that the concrete pad supporting the shelter was badly damaged and could no longer safely hold a new shelter.

Because of this, Sturgeon County has decided to replace both the North Shelter and the concrete pad. This replacement will help bring the North Shelter in line with the recently updated South Shelter as part of the park's improvement plan. The new shelter will be built at the same location, so visitors can continue enjoying the space.

Cardiff Park Tower

In April 2024, Sturgeon County hired Williams Engineering to assess the safety and condition of the observation tower at Cardiff Park. The assessment revealed that while the tower's overall condition was fair, the required repairs and upgrades to ensure code compliance were extensive and costly. The restoration expenses were comparable to those for constructing a new structure. As a result, the County decided to replace the existing tower with a new, compliant observation tower at a new location that showcases the entire park with better views.
